Yu-Gi-Oh! isn't just a card game โ it's a hunt for rarities. Starlight Rares, Ghost Rares, Ultimate Rares... and then there are all the versions from different regions.
If you collect YGO, you know: This hobby is expensive, complex, and quickly overwhelming without a system.
No other TCG has as many rarity tiers:
Each tier has different prices. A Starlight Rare can cost $500, while the Ultra Rare of the same card sits at $5.
OCG cards sometimes have different artwork or were never printed in the TCG. Collectors often want both.
"1st Edition" makes a HUGE price difference in Yu-Gi-Oh!. A 1st Edition LOB Blue-Eyes White Dragon? Thousands of dollars. Unlimited? Only a fraction of that.
30 binders, 50 deck boxes, various boxes with bulk. Where was that Starlight Accesscode Talker again?
"The collection should be worth around $2,000" โ but is that right? Which cards are even worth something?
Super Rare vs. Ultra Rare can be hard to distinguish in Yu-Gi-Oh!. Wrong entry = wrong value.
The new banlist drops, a deck becomes Tier 0 โ and suddenly your cards are worth triple. Or they crash completely.
A good collection app for Yu-Gi-Oh! needs:
Everything over $20 belongs in your system. Starlight Rares, Ghost Rares, 1st Edition holos โ no exceptions.
Commons and rares under $1 can be tracked as a "bulk box." Individual tracking isn't worth it.
After every booster opening: Pull holos, check prices, log relevant cards. Commons go to the bulk box.
In Yu-Gi-Oh!, condition is critical for tournament playability. "Damaged" cards can be rule-illegal to play.
New banlist every 3 months. Cards that get limited or banned can swing in price dramatically.
Weekly: Check your top 10 cards. Any banlist leaks or meta shifts?
After Each Set Release: Check pulled card prices. Sometimes cards rise again after 2-3 weeks.
Before Selling: Check price trends. Is the card currently hyped or declining?
Yu-Gi-Oh! collecting is a rabbit hole. That's exactly why a good system that can keep up with the complexity is so important.
Rarities, editions, regions, conditions โ keeping all of that in your head is impossible. A digital tool makes the difference between "I think this is valuable" and "I know exactly what I have."
